Abstract

Digital dermatoglyphics were analysed for qualitative and quantitative characteristics from 220 persons (116 males, and 104 females) of muria gond tribe of Bastar district. The dermatoglyphic pattern frequency among muria gonds did not differ significantly as compared with other protoaustraloid tribal groups in India. The data, therefore, lends support to the suggestion that muria gonds of Bastar have genetic affinities with these groups.
