Abstract

Zigbee is a wireless personal area network (WPAN) based on IEEE 802.15.4 is mainly targeted for numerous applications based on wireless sensor network. In order to provide reliable services for numerous applications with heterogeneity in traffic optimization is required. So in this work, the two vital traffic parameters that are packet size and inter-arrival time have been identified for performance optimization. Further star, tree and mesh topology have also been considered along with different traffic types. Considering the importance of traffic types, realistic simulation scenarios have been proposed for star, tree and mesh topologies. Extensive simulation has been done to optimize the traffic parameters in terms of Quality of service (QoS) parameters like throughput, network load and delay.
