Abstract

Introduction: Very few case reports in the literature describe synergistic gangrene of the breast tissue, to the best of our knowledge none till now in a male patient. We report a case of synergistic gangrene in a male breast without any precedent cause, i.e., idiopathic.

Case Report: A 25 year old male presented to surgery emergency with fulminant gangrene of his right breast. No antecedent cause could be ascribed to his infection, he was treated with broad spectrum antibiotics, antifungals and emergency debridement resulting in radical removal of all breast tissue and the nipple areola complex.

Conclusion: Synergistic gangrene of breast is a rare and life threatening entity and can also affect young adult males.
