Callus initiated from germinating seeds of Azadirachta indica A. Juss was maintained on a modified Murashige and Skoog medium (MS). Organogenesis occurred in medium supplemented with various growth regulators. Undifferentiated callus tissues and seeds without testa were extracted with hexane. The extract was treated with 500 ul each of methanol as well as diazomethane, and then standardized with 100 ul of squalene. An analysis by mass spectrometry indicated eight fatty acids in callus tissues viz. myristic, palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic were found in the seed extract.
