Abstract

The article raises the problem of resolving issues of feed production for the development of intensive livestock farming in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Due to the growing shortage of water resources in the south of Kazakhstan, it is proposed to use promising forage crops that have not been previously used, which are most responsive to irrigation and, at the same time, do not require high irrigation rates. The research methods follow the standard methodology for conducting field experiments. The presented article is devoted to promising forage crops not previously cultivated in Kazakhstan (various genotypes of sorghum and African millet, in terms of developing the technology for their cultivation). Particular attention is paid to the development of irrigation and irrigation norms, with a moderate irrigation mode using sprinkling.The article discusses the technology of cultivating high-yielding, drought-resistant dual-purpose fodder crops (for fodder, grain, silage, and granulated fodder) and the optimal irrigation conditions on the example of sorghum and pearl millet with sprinkling irrigation.The use of new fodder crops with sprinkling at a moderate irrigation rate will make it possible to successfully solve the program for the development of animal husbandry, which is a priority in the development of the Kazakh economy.
