Abstract

The crude chloroform extract of Didymocarpus podocarpa, petroleum ether extract of Coriaria nepalensis and Clerodendron fragrans, and the methanol extract of Clerodendron siphonanthus and C. nepalensis were obtained after Soxhlet extraction of the plants mentioned. Grain treatments with chloroform extract of D. podocarpa, petroleum ether extract of C. nepalensis and C. fragrans revealed antifeedant activity, and the methanol extract of C. siphonanthus and C. nepalensis exhibited insecticidal properties against the adult Sitophilus oryzae (Linn.). The chloroform extract of D. podocarpa and the methanol extract of C. siphonanthus appeared to be the best effective antifeedant and insecticidal chemicals respectively.
