Abstract

Eleven induced breeding exercises were conduced on Cyprinus carpio (L.) in the CIFE-D81 Hatchery at Jodhpur from 20. 12.98 to 5.3.2000 using ovatide @0.3 ml/kg body weight of female and @. 0.1 ml/kg body weight for male brooder. The optimum water temperature (21.6-25.3°C) was observed during breeding exercises. The eggs (1.15-3.45 lakhs) were obtained by varying the injection time (9.00am-4.30 pm). The fertilization percent (58-94%) and hatching percent (65-90%) demonstrates that ovatide is a convenient ovulating agent for induced breeding.
